Deutsche Hypo starts into the new year with a benchmark issue

Today, Deutsche Hypothekenbank has used the positive environment on the capital markets to issue a mortgage Pfandbrief in benchmark format with a volume of EUR 500 million.

The 5-year mortgage Pfandbrief has a coupon of 0.875 percent. The issue price was 99.509 percent. This corresponds to a spread of +1 basis point over mid-swap. The collateral pool consists of mortgage loans of commercial real estate customers in its core markets Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and France. The deal was launched by the joint-lead managers Commerzbank, DekaBank, Deutsche Bank, Natixis and NORD/LB.

“We have launched one of our benchmark issues early this year “, stresses Stephan Thomas Bürkle, Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Hypo, “The demand proves that there is a continued need of high quality investments.” Within the order period of 1.5 hours, 38 orders were received. The order book was oversubscribed by nearly 20 percent. Particularly Landesbanks, Central banks and Savings banks, funds, and private investors in Germany and German-speaking countries drove the mortgage Pfandbrief. Also investors from Asia, the UK and Continental Europe were interested. “With our 5-year mortgage Pfandbrief, we offer a profitable form of investment in the prevailing low interest rate environment,” says Bürkle.

Deutsche Hypo, a 140-year-old Pfandbrief bank, is one of the renowned issuers in the market. The bank plans a funding volume of around EUR 5.5 billion this year compared to approximately EUR 4.2 billion in 2012. Deutsche Hypo issues Pfandbriefe as well as unsecured bearer and registered bonds.
