Deutsche Hypo with significant rise in new business

Deutsche Hypothekenbank generated new business of € 4,541 million in financial year 2016. This equates to an increase of € 465.5 million, or 11.4 %, on the previous year’s figure of € 4,075 million. Deutsche Hypo increased its commitment volumes both in its domestic market and its international target markets.

Accounting for 62.4 % of new business volume (2015: 60.1 %), new business continued to be focused in Germany. Domestic commitment volume amounted to € 2,832 million (2015: € 2,449 million). The lion’s share of new business outside of Germany was registered in UK with € 749 million (2015: € 730 million), followed by the Benelux region, where volume increased by 14 % to € 653 million (2015: € 572 million). All in all, new business volume in all international target markets totalled € 1,709 million (2015: € 1,626 million).

In terms of asset classes, office properties continued to dominate the bank’s new business and accounted for € 2,010 million (2015: € 1,823 million) of new business volume. Financing volume for retail properties declined to € 974 million (2015: € 1,379 million), while the volume of residential financing more than doubled to € 871 million (2015: € 412 million).

“In a challenging market environment, we enjoyed further success in acquiring a great number of interesting transactions without compromising on our quality-oriented lending approach,” stressed Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of Deutsche Hypo, Andreas Pohl. “Our new business volumes underline our solid market position in our target markets.”
