Today, Deutsche Hypothekenbank has launched its second Green Pfandbrief. The issue in the amount of EUR 500 million has a term of 6 ¼ years. The coupon is 0.25%. With an issue price of 99.26%, the yield amounts to 0.37% and corresponds to a yield discount of 8 basis points (bp) to mid-swap. The transaction was supported by a banking consortium consisting of ABN AMRO, BayernLB, Natixis, NORD/LB and UniCredit.
Within two hours, Deutsche Hypo received over 30 orders with a volume of around EUR 640 million. An offering was mainly made by investors with a focus on sustainability. These were banks, central banks and asset managers as well as other institutional investors from Germany, Northern, Western and Southern Europe. The order book was very dynamic, with high volumes, especially at the opening.
As part of its first issue of a Green Pfandbrief on 17 November 2017, Deutsche Hypo has added a green sub-portfolio to its mortgage cover pool. Since 31 December 2017, it has published a detailed report on this portfolio, which is updated on an ongoing basis. Deutsche Hypo currently has very good sustainability ratings. With the current ratings of oekom research AG (Prime C+) and imug (Sustainability Rating: Positive BB, Mortgage Pfandbriefe: Positive BB, Public Pfandbriefe: Positive BBB), the bank is one of the best-rated financial institutions in Germany.
“Again, we are very pleased with the high demand for our Green Pfandbrief,” emphasises Sabine Barthauer, Member of the Board of Managing Directors of Deutsche Hypo. “We see today’s success as a clear display of trust from “green” investors, especially since many of these investors have already invested in our Green Pfandbriefe for the second time. In addition, the new asset class has established itself in the market.”
