Deutsche Hypo significantly increases new business volume

In the first half of 2017, Deutsche Hypothekenbank increased its new business volume to € 2,116 million. This is an increase of 17.4 % compared with the same period of the previous year (€ 1,802 million). The new business volume increased both domestically and abroad.

With a share of 62.1 % (2016: 60.6), the regional focus of new business continued to be in Germany. At the same time, domestic commitments increased by 20.2 % to € 1,313 million (2016: 1,093). The highest share of new business outside Germany for Deutsche Hypo came from the Benelux countries with € 358 million (2016: 85) and the UK with € 253 million (2016: 472). Overall, Deutsche Hypo’s new business volume in foreign target markets totaled € 803 million (2016: 710).

Office properties remained the most important asset class in the portfolio of Deutsche Hypo and contributed € 712 million (2016: 927) to the new business volume, followed by retail properties with a volume of € 701 million (2016: 500). The volume for residential properties increased to € 387 million (2016: 153).

“We can be very satisfied with the new business volume achieved in the first half of 2017. Despite the persistently intense competitive environment, we have succeeded in increasing our commitments both domestically and abroad,” said Andreas Pohl, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of Deutsche Hypo. “It is worth pointing out that the new business has further improved our good portfolio quality, which can help underline the conservative risk management of our Bank.”

Deutsche Hypo will publish its Half-yearly Financial Report 2017 on 31 August 2017.
